Laws in Pennsylvania limits how much a landlord can charge for your security deposit as it’s basically (two months rent for the first year of renting and one month’s rent during subsequent years that follow and when it must be returned within a period of 30 days after you the tenant have moved out. What to plan to do before you move into the new house.

By |2022-06-10T17:19:12-04:00November 30, 2017|Resources & Tips|

It’s exciting and for some of us a once in a lifetime experience to move into a new home that was especially built for you and your family. If you have kids this could be a new school system for them to attend along with a new job location for you as well. The main thing is that you are the first to occupy that new if it is new construction. There are a few things that are a good idea to plan to do in advance of your movers that will be moving you into that new home.

The First, at least two days before your movers arrive to move you in give that new home a real good cleaning and if it’s a new construction it would be a great idea to clean it very carefully.

The cleaning of all wood floors should be dry moped and then cleaned with a product such as Murphy’s Wood soap oil as this will remove and dust or spills that might be left after the previous owners or the construction workers.

All rugs I would recommend using a steam vac or rug cleaning machine with a product that will clean the rugs and remove and debris that might be left in the rug

Clean and wipe down all bathrooms and tile floors. It’s a good idea to clean your glass especially if you are moving into a new construction house and I would recommend using vinegar and water into a spray bottle and then wiping the glass clean with newspapers as this will eliminate any streaks that may occur.

Second, After your new residence is cleaned it’s a great idea to prepare for the movers by purchasing from your local hardware store Brown painter’s paper in which comes in large rolls and laying it down on your foyer entrances ad over your clean rugs and stairs. When laying this down secure to the floor with a product called Frog Green tape as by taking these steps you will make sure that your house will remain clean and when the move is completed you can simply lift up the tape and paper and toss it into your trash or save it for another project if you like.

Third, One further thing to prepare for the movers and to keep your new home clean always make sure that you have a mat outside the door way into your home where the movers coming into your home can wipe there feet if needed.

Fourth, To keep your house clean make sure you label each tote or box as to where which room they go to and then place a label outside each room in the house as to say bedroom one, bedroom two, master bedroom, nursery, den, and so on as by doing this step it will reduce the number of traffic in your new home and will help you keep it clean.

Save up to 25% or more packing this moving way.

By |2022-06-10T17:19:57-04:00November 30, 2017|Resources & Tips|

Preparing for your moving day is essential so that the move goes smooth and that you don’t end up spending more time and money then you really have to. Storing your items can be another headache if you don’t have your items packed in the strongest and best method to store your items whether it be for short term or a long term storage. Most families and people tend to think well I’ll just get boxes and pack all my items in boxes and that will end that problem.

But, in reality if you are going to store your items in a basement or garage and must stack them you will be better off purchasing Plastic totes and yes, I said totes and why? Totes in the long run can be stacked and your items are in a secure strong container that don’t crush like cardboard does and when you stack them they can be stack in uniform because they lock in place. The cost of plastic totes are usually 25% at least cheaper then cardboard boxes and they sell at stores in a bundle of Five for Ten Dollars and the other benefit is that you don’t need to shell out any extra for sealing tape because the totes lids lock down into the container. We here always tell our clients when packing themselves to use plastic totes and in the above I’ve answered why this packing method is the better way to go. Finally the plastic totes are completely water proof as compared to cardboard in which if it does get wet the items inside will get wet as well. The choice is yours as a consumer and we all are looking for that bargain that will save us time and money and to get the best bang for our buck.

Cheap effective way to clean your residence.

Cheap effective ways to clean your residence before or after a move.

Being a renter all of my adult years and on a budget I’m like other people looking for ways to clean my apartment for a much lower cost but, still keeping the high cleaning standards without getting fleeced at the grocery store. I recently moved for the third time to another apartment and heard this wonderful cleaning tip from a professional janitorial cleaner of how to clean my bath tub and toilet, sink for a third of the cost.

To my amazement I was told to purchase Vinegar apple cider in which costs about Four Bucks a bottle and that’s all I needed & so I bought a bottle and cleaned my whole entire tile floors, bathroom with this stuff and to my surprise it did a better job then cleanser, Windex, Mr. Clean combined. This stuff left a great pleasant smell in my old apartment so when my old landlord came to inspect it for me to get my deposit back I know it would pass and I would not have any issues with my landlord. This Vinegar Apple Cider is also a lot safer especially around young children and pets without any of the harmful chemicals and for only Four Bucks how can you go wrong?

So my advice when you are done with the moving company moving you out of your old place buy a bottle of Vinegar Apple Cider and go cleaning.

Suggestions to help you prepare for your moving day

By |2023-04-11T16:52:14-04:00March 9, 2017|Resources & Tips|

While every move is unique, there is some tried and true piece of expert advice that can apply to just about every move- and the experts at Eastern Connection Movers have it down pat since 1987, we have helped tens of thousand of customers move their household stuff across the country and locally as well. Along the way, we have compiled an arsenal of expert advice from professionals who have done this for decades designed to help make your move with us easy and pleasant, organized and affordable.

Get  Organized

Even if organization isn’t your “thing,”  there is some really simple things you can do to make moving much easier.

Gathering moving quotes.    The real best moving advice from our experts is to start gathering moving quotations as soon as you know that you are moving. Click here for your free online quote for your move and send us with your request in your email the following information in order to receive your quote such as.

  • If your move is a local or long distance moving services requested.
  • An exact itemized list of what is to be moved.
  • The desired date of the move.
  • If you should need any professional packing services needed and if so, describe what you would like our experts to pack for you.
  • Are there any stairs or an elevator and if so, what floor(s).
  •  The pickup location and your destination location and include zip codes.
  • Your full name and the best contact phone number for us to call you & the best time for our customer care team to call you.
  • Any special services requested for your move like a piano, organ, car to be moved.

 Make a reservation.

if possible, we recommend reserving your moving date with us at least 10 days in advance for long distance moves & as soon as you        know for local moves so that we can place your move in our system for the best moving experience by our professionals.

We recommend printing a checklist for yourself.

Checklist are essential to moving because they help you keep track of everything detail in your move. Every move has a different type of checklist because each move is never the same details as  for example, John Doe moving from Philadelphia to Atlanta,         Georgia might have a detail in his move such as checking to make sure that his pets travel plans for a pet moving service are complete meanwhile, Tom Watkins, moving from Hatfield, PA to  Jenkintown, PA might not have to have in his checklist  pet movers because he is taking his pets in his car to his new place.  The Best advice is to make up your own checklist from scratch and therefore by doing this, you have your own list and not a basic one size fit all.

Order moving supplies.

We recommend that if you are doing your own self-packing that you order moving supplies like boxes, tape, inkless packing paper well in advance of your moving date. We sell only the best moving supplies that are professional grade at a discounted price. Give our customer service a call right now for your special discount on your moving supplies.

Let our experts do your packing for you.

Our professionals are the absolute best packing pro anywhere! Since 1987 we have employed only the best-seasoned experts to assure you a perfect pack every time whether, it’s your fine crystal ware or that large family oil painting from years past our team knows it all and we can assure you the absolute best services.

Call our customer service or email us at customer care and lets us know in your email that you would need professional packing services and place in the email your best contact number & your name and they will respond to fast. We realize that the packing part of your move can be cumbersome and you have better things to do with your valued time and our experts can relieve you of the stress and make your moving experience a more seamless experience.

Need professional packing tips?

If you book your move with us at your request we will send one of our experts to your residence or place of business to give you a free tutorial on site of how to pack your items. If you prefer to call us about any free packing tips then give our customer car a call anytime.

Get rid of unwanted items.

When you move with Eastern Connection Movers we advise that you donate any unwanted items as this will save you time & money on your move.  if you would rather not donate then we advise on having a day or two set aside to have a yard sale or garage sale or even a moving sale or if you don’t want to donate and can’t sell any unwanted items then simply throw them out.

Need storage long term or short term secure storage?

Our services are designed to make your move seamless.

Answers to Finding the Right Mover

By |2022-06-10T17:26:34-04:00March 9, 2017|Resources & Tips|

So often I’m asked, how to go about finding the right moving company. There are so many ads for moving companies online especially those brokers whom seem to present themselves as a moving & storage company with their own employees with company-owned trucks but, after booking your move with them on moving day you sadly discover that the company you thought was on the up and up really are just a broker and you now are on the moving date that you must be out of your residence and have no choice but to use this other company whom you have not had any communication with until moving day. The really bad thing is that you have had no time to check out the company that you are forced to go with and you are full of questions.

In your search online you went thru a lot of web pages and probably I’ll assume had a boat load of calls from other moving inquiries that you submitted to web sites that say that after filling out the request for quotes your information will be submitted to six moving companies and come to find out like I mentioned you get a boat load of calls that are so overwhelming and this precisely my point there are online ads & sites that mask themselves as moving companies with their own equipment and employees and then there are certainly the ones that you can simply figure out that they are brokers when the say in the website that your information will be submitted to six companies for a quote to be sent to you or you will get a call from them.

My answer to finding the right mover for you is to avoid any of those sites that again state that your information will be submitted to six companies for your quotation & then to ask them if they have their own employees and equipment as then by their reply or checking about them online you will be able to come to your own decision. Brokers aren’t the way to go when you are moving your heirlooms or home furnishings as in most cases that broker isn’t local and then you really don’t know whom you or they have selected to move your household goods. When moving you want a moving company that is reputable and local and here are more answers for you.

I just gave you the bad news as to what can happen and now for the good news, Find a company that is local or is very reputable with things like being awarded the best mover by a publication in their area or they have a 5 star rating and good reviews by their customers and really show the expertise of the people they employ in which can be determined simply by making an appointment with a representative of the company to come to your residence and give you a price quotation for the move you are about to have done. You should always ask the estimator that comes to your residence if she or he has actually done the bull work by lifting, moving and packing and have they ever loaded a moving truck. Ask how many years have they been in the moving and storage business. If the answer is no then the best decision for you is to go onto the next estimator and rest assured you will find the right experienced company because experience starts with experience as anyone can walk around with a pencil in their hands with paper.

Moving companies with extended hours is the company to use & then a company that can meet your moving needs that is all done with in house employees like do you move antiques and what about vehicle moving as well but, of course that they can have a flexible schedule to work around your schedule.

Our expertise is household goods moving along with our experts that move pianos. antiques and packing with crating services with our mission to give each client a seamless move every time. For those whom want to learn more, they can simply go to https://mozermoving.com where they can learn about moving tips. great tutorials on packing and scheduling a move or they can call them in state at (484)461-8685 or from out of state (877)480-6683 or go to their Facebook page by clicking here at https://www.facebook.com/easternconnectionmovers

At Eastern Connection Movers, they have a goal to provide clients with a fair priced move that is a seamless move from a reputable moving and storage company.

11 Things We Forget To Do When Moving

By |2022-06-10T17:37:48-04:00May 16, 2015|Resources & Tips|

From finding daycare for your children to marking your boxes that you just packed, you must not overlook these important things to do moving tips.

George Maier, Editor for Eastern Connection Movers Monday Apr 15, 2013

“Practically every person we knew and our pastor and the people from our church tried to get our California King mattress up our steps says Jack Cahill and his family of Philadelphia, PA, this family has moved from Philadelphia to South Florida and back again. This family said after falling to get the mattress up the stairs and a long frustrating experience the all gave up and had to purchase a new bed. Jack said that he learned his lesson and first before doing any self moving make sure you measure all areas as to where you will be working and moving items through, such as up steps or even down a hallway or thru a door frame before you waste your time trying to fit something thru when all you will be doing is scratching your walls and doing other damages.”

Stories like this one reminds us that moving is not for the faint of heart and never easy. Sometimes a new job will make you relocate ( Even on little notice), so there are a lot of things to do before moving date and on the day and after your move date.

If you are moving across town or across state lines you will need to read these 11 items we forget to do when you move.

Before the move.

1. Inform any academic institutions

Parents in some cases forget to notify their children’s academic institutions

Before or enough in advance of the move. George Maier, Editor for Eastern
Connection Movers makes it his goal to inform parents to advise their children’s academic institutions at least 1 month in advance before they would like their kids to start. You should let administrators also know your preplanned moving date and also if you are moving locally and your move is 200 miles from your old residence try to schedule a tour of the new school in advance of the moving day.

2. Notify your caregivers. Before you move advise your baby sitter, lawn care guy, House cleaning and whoever else that needs to be notified of your relocation that you are moving on such date. Inform your children that they will be getting a new baby sitter as well.

3. Make your moving day anxiety free. Out of all of your pre-move chaos, you may be forgetting a real important person your life and that is your children. It best to help them through this Move by” Spending a lot more time with them if you can” and just before Your moving date. A good idea might be by reading a book to them or Going out for a family outing like going to a ice cream store.

4. Set up child care. It is best to avoid last minute child care. Get this set up at least 4 days in advance of the moving date or obtaining a baby sitter. If you are moving nearby you might want to consider going to your new town and checking out new child care facilities.

5. Marking your boxes in advance of the moving date.

Now, that you have purchased your moving boxes, you are probably asking Yourself how to label them? You probably are thinking about going down to your local truck rental place and purchasing those color coded self stickers right! Save your money do what our professionals do when we do all of the professional packing for our customers and that is to go to your local art supply store and purchase 2 wide black felt magic markers and the cost should be under five dollars. After packing your boxes take one of your markers and in the top right hand corner on the side write which room it goes in at your new residence.

6. Pack the first box to be opened.

To avoid delays in obtaining certain important items it is recommended that you pack a special box with certain items that you may need upon arriving at your new location and label it special items. Pack the boxes with what items you think you will need.

7. Contact township or your city .

Before your moving date make certain that you have been in contact with any township offices such as trash collection and even making sure that your house has been approved by your township and you have obtained a certified occupancy permit so that there will not be any problems to or for your buyer purchasing your home from you. It is a good thing to have that peace of mind that everything has been done before you move.

On Your Moving Day.

8. Our company recommends packing a back pack or box full of various Items like toys for your children to keep their minds off the move. Pack a walkman radio for your children to listen to kids radio or even some children’s books & even a DVD player to play movies for your kids to during the moving date. All of these ideas are really creative to making the move go more smoothly.

9. Make reservations at a motel or hotel.

On the evening of your move it is best to plan to stay at a motel or hotel if your home furnishings isn’t being delivered the same day of your moving date. Most people or families that are moving forget to make accommodations for a place to stay on the night that they are being moved.

10. Care for your pets.

Making your cat or dog or pet comfortable during the move is important not only to them but you as well. You can move the pets yourself or we recommend family pet relocations. You can go to our website for further helpful information and tips.

After The Move.

11. Start A New Tradition.

Moving is stressful and is a process that everyone in your family will go through at least once in their lives. It is important to keep up on your family traditions. Before your entire family gets to busy think about having a family get together at your new place or going out on a family night.

Cheap but effective ways to pack for a move

By |2022-06-10T17:39:45-04:00May 16, 2015|Resources & Tips|

If you’re trying to keep costs down when relocating, then you’ll want to try doing as much of the move yourself as you can. Packing yourself is one way to reduce unnecessary additional costs, and can be done very effectively with minimal financial requirements. Here’s how:

Boxes and containers

If you’re thrifty, then you may have kept some of the boxes you got when you purchased new products in the past. If you do have any of these boxes around, then make use of them! They are the best option for packing the product they came with, as they are specially designed to minimise movement and damage during transit. This is especially applicable in the case of electrical goods or glassware, so if you are planning on purchasing any new items before you move, keep the boxes.

Alternatively, if you don’t have enough of these kinds of boxes, then you can get as many as you need from your local grocery store or supermarket. Simply ask them for any spare delivery boxes, and generally speaking they will give you as many as you need for free. Most of the time the boxes are in pretty good condition too, as they are normally from daily deliveries and will only be thrown out, so most shops are happy to pass them on to someone who needs them.

As you can see, you can get good quality boxes for no additional costs whatsoever, but sometimes buying specialist packing containers may seem like the best option. These can be picked up online for fairly reasonable prices, but if you have to get them , only get the specialist containers for valuables and so on, as normal boxes will be fine for everything else. Alternatively, you can simply use normal boxes and pack them extra securely, but it comes down to personal preference.

Other packing supplies

There is really only a couple of items that you might need to spend money on, but chances are you will have some, if not all of these around the house anyway. Making sure your packing is organized will require some labels of even marker pens, to make sure you can label contents on boxes and so on. Having some good durable packing tape is essential also, as normal household tape won’t be up to the job. Finally, using a Stanley knife for cutting tape and trimming boxes will be much faster than scissors, and you can quickly break down boxes after your move too. If you don’t have some of these items then it’s definitely worthwhile investing in them, as they will be useful for plenty of other tasks around the home, not just your move.

Packing clothes

Getting clothes packed can give you a large amount of additional cases or boxes to deal with, but there is a very cheap and effective way of getting clothes ready for a move with minimal cost and stress. This mainly applies to items in your wardrobe or clothing rack. All you need are some black bags, but any large plastic bags will do. Simply place the bag over the top of the hanger so it covers the clothing. You can then add another bag from the bottom if you like, to make sure the clothing is secure, and tape them together. This takes a couple of minutes at most, and also means that your clothes can be hung up straight away in your new home without any unpacking needed.

Buying Boxes for Your Move

By |2022-06-10T17:41:15-04:00May 16, 2015|Resources & Tips|

Boxes and bags are the staple for moving – whether you’re using plastic boxes and under bed storage containers, or getting cardboard ones – using suitcases, or black and plastic bags, you’ll need to consider how many you need and allow for extra. You’ll also need newspapers, paper, packing foam and/or bubble wrap. You’ll also need tape, a marker pen and if you get them, stickers to mark your boxes.

Buying boxes and containers from hardware stores or supermarkets is a good way to get sturdy, reusable containers for your new house, but may not prove to be cost effective if you’ve got lots of belongings. Boxes are a good, cheap alternative to plastic containers and can be bought from websites, along with tape and stickers to mark your boxes.

Boxes are a great way to pack things into regular spaces and makes them easier to carry. You can also get boxes from supermarkets, and sometimes from recycler and on Craig’s list. Some removal firms also supply them if you’re using their vans, or their moving men, or provide them if you are letting them pack for you. Packing clothes into suitcases or bags means that they are easy to transport, and easy to fit into spare spaces in your transport, but you need to make sure that the bags or cases are sturdy enough to contain your belongings well.

Cheap bags are no good if you need to use two of them or they burst when you pick them up. Snagging risks are also something you’ll have to consider, as anything sharp might cause tears in your bags. Containers should all be stackable to get the most use while moving – or should be placed in front of your boxes so that your space is maximized while the move is in progress.

If you have problems finding the right boxes or packing materials for your move, Eastern Connection Movers will help you to find what you’re looking for. Call today!
